Grier, 71, the star of 70s Blaxploitation films like Foxy Brown, Sheba Baby, and Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, penned her biopic “Foxy: My Life in Three Acts” in 2010. In the book, she detailed her rise to fame and her romantic relationships with fellow celebrities Richard Pryor, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Freddie Prinze.

On Twitter, Grier says DuVernay would be her choice to direct the story of her life.

Grier’s fans seemed to embrace the idea, responding with excitement over the idea of the project coming to pass. DuVernay has yet to respond but it certainly seems like, with her history of female-centered projects, that she would champion the biopic whether she directs or not.

She’s appeared in This is Us, The L Word, Law and Order: SVU and in the movie Just Wright. Tarantino wrote Jackie Brown with her in mind.
